Future Proofing the Creative Industries

VISION: To nurture a dynamic and sustainable creative sector through purpose-led support and an effective long-term strategy.

The FGIC was funded in partnership between Perth & Kinross Council, Edrington (The Famous Grouse), the Scottish Government, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Scottish Cities Alliance through the Smart Cities Programme, as part of the £4.3m Creative Exchange development.

Day-to-day, the Centre provides a dynamic and energetic heart for the Creative Exchange development and its tenants, but its vision has always been far more wide-reaching. As well as providing support, it also aims to raise awareness of the digital and creative industries and to inspiring people to consider a career or self–employment in this broad sector.

By providing a business incubator hub for the creative industries – and all SMEs seeking a creative solution for growth – the FGIC has become an integral part of the Tay City Region’s innovation ecosystem.

FGIC is managed on a day-to-day basis by Culture Perth & Kinross.

Famous Grouse Ideas Centre Funding Partners

The Famous Grouse
Having its origins in Perth we are delighted to be associated with such a successful and well recognised global brand. The origins of the brand can be traced to Perth entrepreneur – Matthew Gloag – who created the Famous Grouse blend in Perth in 1896, with the history of the business dating from 1800.

The Scottish Government Regeneration Capital Grant Fund

The regeneration of the former St John’s Primary School to create Perth Creative Exchange was supported by The Scottish Government through the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund. The Regeneration Capital Grant Fund which is delivered in partnership with COSLA and local government, supports locally developed place-based regeneration projects that involve local communities, helping to support and create jobs and build sustainable communities.

Aligned to Scottish Government and UK Government policies, Perth & Kinross Council is committed to supporting the cultural and creative sectors. This is evidenced in the significant capital investment across Perth & Kinross in the sectors including substantial investment in Perth Creative Exchange and The Famous Grouse Ideas Centre.

Scape Reinvest

A unique social investment fund, Scape Reinvest is designed to benefit the communities of the clients of The Scape Group by returning modest surpluses to community projects. The Scape Group is a public sector organisation, dedicated to creating efficiency & social value via the built environment.

Cities Investment Fund and European Regional Development Fund.

The innovation and design technology is made available to individuals and enterprises thanks to funding granted through The Scottish Cities Alliance from the Cities Investment Fund and European Regional Development Fund.
